Falling Down A Pink Floyd Rabbit Hole and Landing Right On Top of Dark Side of the Moon

So if I were ever stranded on a desert island and I could only listen to three bands until I was rescued, I'd be in quite a conundrum. Who would I pick? I have so many bands that I consider my "favorite". I can say with 98.5% certainty that only one would be a definite choice and that is Pink Floyd. The other two would require some deep thought and consideration 🤔

This year marks the 52nd anniversary of the release of Dark Side of the Moon. Believe it or not, for the last 10 years or so, I have actually celebrated this occasion as a holiday. Hey, if we can have National Donut Day, I can celebrate this album. A donut is but a moment on your lips and a lifetime on your hips, but an epic song is forever.

When I worked as an innkeeper in Gettysburg, I would make snacks for the guests daily. I always tried to make it fun and be creative. I had a triangle-shaped cookie cutter, and I would make cookies that looked like the cover of Dark Side of the Moon. Now, granted, they weren't the best-looking thing in the world, 'cause I'm no professional baker, but I have something that's even better than that. Enthusiasm!! Chew on that for a while. I mean, since you don't have one of my famous prism triangle celebratory cookies to nosh on, it's the least I can do. I have included a photo of the cookie cutter just in case you think I'm kidding.

I remember being in 4th grade at Catholic school and being introduced to the album Another Brick in the Wall. All the imagery with the uniforms and "not needing no education"   resonated with me. Don't tell me you have never felt like just another brick in the wall. I know I have at times, even in the 4th grade. It's not my favorite Pink Floyd album, but it has its moments.

I have a really bad habit of picking a band in the morning when I get up, and  I just start listening. I listen as I'm taking a shower, doing my hair, doing my makeup, picking out my clothes. Then, throughout the day, when I'm driving, taking a break, at home, or just doing nothing, I listen to music, and usually what I started out with in the morning continues. If a song really hits me just right in the rotation of the music i just hit repeat. Sometimes over and over. I don't know what to tell you. It works in my world like that.

Today I fell into that Pink Floyd rabbit hole, and I gotta say I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I am listening to some " Wish You Were Here ", " Money, Breathe ", and yeah, Another Brick in the Wall " right now. I have to let you know, if loving Pink Floyd is wrong, I don't wanna ever be right.  Listen to some "Wish You Were Here" right now... You know you want to. Just do it!!
